POSITION SUMMARY:

F ood and Beverage employees at Arapahoe Basin are committed to creating "a day worth repeating" for our guests by ensuring legendary service and high-quality food throughout our F&B outlets.

A Cook II at A-Basin is one step above our entry-level cook and requires the knowledge and ability to handle work in a banquet environment helping to execute banquet event order at managers instruction . This position uses basic preparation and cooking methods to create and serve food items to guests while providing excellent customer service.

You will be responsible for the opening, operating , continued cleanliness, and closing of your assigned F&B station(s) on a daily basis .

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Arapahoe Basin's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors , including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Food and Beverage cooks are eligible for a staging program that relates to applicable pay based on experience. See the staging requirements below.

Hourly pay range: $2 1 .50 - $2 5.75 /hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.


  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.


  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.


  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.


  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.


  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.


  • Set-up and break down workstation .


  • Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.


  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.


  • Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.


  • Lead a station and ensure food quality


  • Mentor Cook I teammates


  • Rotate and store supplies safely


  • Assist with special events and team support


  • A-Basin loves the environment! Help us do our part with waste removal, including landfill trash, recycling, and composting.


  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in the kitchen.


  • Other duties as assigned according to manager's instruction.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 6 months of Line Cook experience - preferred


  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.


  • Maintain consistency and quality of similar tasks throughout an 8-hour shift.


  • Maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times.


  • Ability to work efficiently without supervision when necessary.


  • Must provide own, approved, non-slip footwear.


  • Available to work weekends and holidays.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Use full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, push, pull and lift up to 75 lbs.


  • Stand and walk for 8+ hours.


  • Navigate stairs throughout your shift.


  • Withstand high altitude conditions at all times .

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • You will work almost 100% of the time in a kitchen in a high-altitude environment. Some outside work in a cold and snowy environment is possible on any given day. Most work is performed in a highly trafficked area while working closely with other kitchen employees. Riding a chairlift may be required for certain work locations. Use of utensils such as knives, cooking devices such as fryers or cleaning tools such as mops, is frequent.

Cook I I - V Staging Program:

Cooks at A-Basin are eligible for a staging program that starts when hired and continues into employment.

Cook II: Pay Range: $21.50 - $25.75/ hr

Cook III: Pay Range: $22.00 - $27.50/ hr

Ability to fulfill all Cook 2 requirements in addition to the following:

  • Has at least 1 year of Line Cook Experience.


  • Work in dine-in restaurants with advanced cooking techniques


  • Demonstrate expert knife skills and equipment knowledge


  • Stay current on modern culinary trends


Cook IV: Pay Range: $22.75 - $30.75/ hr

Ability to fulfill all Cook 3 requirements in addition to the following:

  • Has at least 2 years of Line Cook Experience.


  • Collaborate with chefs to develop SOPs and prep lists


  • Cover multiple stations and support team flexibility


  • Help lead the kitchen with operational excellence
